All About Me

 Hello!

My name is Jalyn and I am currently a first-year who may or may not major in History and minor in Film in the near future (I truthfully have no idea what I'm doing).

Here's a lil bit about me:

I am 18 years old, about to turn 19 this coming June. I was born and raised in NYC and it is my long-term goal to die there as well. Growing up in NYC is really the main reason I became obsessed with film in the first place. I've spent now more than half of my life living 2 blocks away from Central Park and I've gotten to watch a lot of really cool things be created. Before my life got absolutely recked by covid my favorite thing to do in the city was to go to the 34th street AMC and watch as many movies as I could watch in a row before they kicked me out (the record was 6 if you wanted to know).

I'm excited to have the opportunity to take this class and I'm looking forward to really broadening my perspective and expanding my knowledge of film as a whole. I'm also really looking forward to creating as well as seeing what art others create too!

  1. I'm from Chicago and live close to a AMC as well, and for sure before covid happened loved seeing live theater, musicals, and movies. High school for me was when I really appreciated film because I was older and understood it at a different level.

  2. Hey Jalyn, I went to high school and have lived in NYC for 5 years, so I totally get why NYC is such a great place for film and theatre. The AMC in 34th street is such a classic movie theater, I missed that place so much. I miss the time when we could just go to the theatre without a mask and not worry about viruses. Also, I've watched multiple films in theatre with only one ticket in Showcase Cinema at Whitestone as well. It was a lot of fun and kinda risky haha.

  3. I definitely relate to going to multiple movies with only one ticket... also bringing snacks in under my jacket. Never 6 in a row, though.
